Journal of Maps announces award recipients for Best Map of 2010

Journal of Maps announces award recipients for Best Map of 2010 The award for the 2010 "Best Map" goes to Donald Lafreniere (University of Western Ontario) and Douglas Rivet (Western Michigan University) for their historical mapping of Sandwich, Ontario, Canada. The atlas is diligently compiled and combines a good cartographic product with innovation to overcome the problem of visualising historical data across an international boundary (Canada and the United States). The result is a series of maps that show how Sandwich has changed over a 200 year period. They also discuss a technique that can be employed more widely.

Rescaling the Past through Mosaic Historical Cartography.
