UK Earth observation hub

From the BBC website, the government are to announce a new Earth Observation centre of excellence.

This "Hub" as it is being reffed to, will concentrate on acquiring data on environmental issues such as deforestation and climate change. The hub will be based at the International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) in Harwell, Oxfordshire. It is hoped that the hub will be up and running by spring 2011.

It is hoped that the hub will act as an incubator for new space businesses and work on space exploration and there will be close links with both the UK Space Agency and the European Space Agency (ESA)
