Introduction
The 'Web Resources' section provides information and links to external sites which offer resources for geographic information-related issues.

This section is located on the left-hand side of the home page.

Using the Web Resources Menu
The menu is divided into 3 sections roughly mimicking the old Go-Geo! resources channels. The channels have been ordered with relation to usage stats with the most popular choices at the top. Drill down through the menu choices to your desired web resource (see Image below - 'Example: searching the Software channel'). To note for ease of navigation the number of resources within each menu is tallied (see the number in brackets besides the menu title).

Section 1: Resources

  • News (Links to resources which provide news about geographic information-related subjects)
    Major Data Providers (Information on academic, public and private organisations which provide data containing geographic information)
    Online Resources (Links to online resources, portals and data sources)
    Software (Information about GIS software and data translators. This section has been divided into commercial and freely available software)
    Case Studies (This section provides links to subject-related case studies which use geographic information)
    Standards (GIS Standards and Bodies)
    Geoterminology (Links to GIS dictionaries and glossaries)
    Geo Bodies (Organisations associated with GI)

Section 2: Learning

  • Learning & Research (Sources of GIS-related learning materials, including books, journals and online tutorials, and Links to organisations who are conducting GIS-related research projects and about their research)
    Training Courses (List of training courses in GIS over the year)
    Books (Go-Geo! recommended GIS textbooks)

Section 3: Wider knowledge

  • Conference / Events (Information on both annual and one-off conferences and events which may be of interest to the GIS user)
    Discussion Groups (A list of discussion groups and web forums of relevance to the geographic information community)
